It’s time to raise the bar
Welcome to the Friends for Langdon community, where success in school is a team effort.
Fredericksburg City Public Schools has been part of my life for the past 25 years. Whether you're new to the division or have been here for a while like me, you deserve the best when it comes to public education. Join me on this journey to restore FCPS to a place of prominence in the Commonwealth.
The challenge…
Fredericksburg City Public Schools is currently ranked 125th out of 130 school divisions in the Commonwealth. I know, without a doubt, that we can do better.
As a small division with a wealth of resources, we have the opportunity to be true innovators in the state of Virginia. We’ve already started paving the way with our Cell Phone Policy, and we can continue to set standards...but we must raise ours first.
Areas of focus
Raising Standards
Its time to hold our students, teachers and leadership to a higher standard. By setting the bar high, for both academic achievement and student conduct, our schools’ culture will rise to meet the challenge and we’ll see statistical improvements across the board.
Backing Teachers
Attracting and retaining the best teachers in the state ensures top-tier instruction is being delivered in our classrooms. In order to be competitive with surrounding divisions, we must increase the salary and benefits for our educators, and provide them with consistent, meaningful trainings and professional development opportunities.
Strengthening Connections
Learning doesn’t happen in a vacuum. By improving the relationship between School and Home, we can ensure our students are being supported in their academic endeavors both on and off campus.
